Fairbanks Reentry Coalition’s mission is to create a community where returning citizens have the keys to successfully achieve their personal goals. The coalition operates under the fiscal authority of the City of Fairbanks with funding support from the Alaska Mental Health Trust. The coalition employs a reentry coalition coordinator. Reentry Case Management services are provided by community partners. The coalition is led by a steering committee of community members that includes representatives from DOC, law enforcement, community service providers, lawmakers, and people with lived experience of incarceration. Five key areas of focus include, access to appropriate housing, meaningful work, healthcare (including mental health and addiction treatment), reliable transportation, and cultural connections. Participating agencies include representatives from behavioral health, tribal, housing, employment, homeless services, Public Defender Agency, Salvation Army, Fairbanks Wellness Court, and more. Besides reentry transitional services and case management, the coalition website offers links to community resources, blog, and a Youtube channel featuring reentry stories.
